Outcomes

The hallmarks of Project SEARCH are total workplace immersion and a singular goal of competitive employment for every program graduate. We strive to achieve that goal by creating an atmosphere of high expectations.

Outcome Summary

Our outcome measures are based on a rigorous definition of competitive employment that includes the following criteria:

  • Competitive employment in an integrated setting (i.e. among co-workers with and without disabilities)
  • Year-round, non-seasonal employment
  • 16 hours/week or more
  • Prevailing wage

2018-2021 Project SEARCH Outcome Summary:

Project SEARCH enrollment and employment outcomes from 2018 through 2022: Before COVID, employment was around 75% , and employment meeting all criteria for competitive employment was around 65 to 70%. We saw a decrease in 2020 for graduates who completed Project SEARCH at the start of the COVID pandemic. In 2021 and 2022, we saw a return to near pre-pandemic rates of employment.  *Based on outcome reporting by 93% to 98% of Project SEARCH program sites.
